(AP) — Homestead National Monument of America in southeast Nebraska has scheduled an open house for its newest special exhibits: “Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War” and “The Civil War in the West.”

The free open house is set to begin at 2 p.m. on Aug. 25 in the Education Center.

“Lincoln: The Constitution and the Civil War” exhibit uses the U.S. Constitution as the thread to offer a different perspective on President Abraham Lincoln. The exhibit focuses on his struggle to meet the political and constitutional challenges of the war.

“The Civil War and the West” exhibit focuses on the fight for the natural resources of the western territories.

Homestead National Monument of America sits four miles west of Beatrice, along Nebraska Highway 4.
