NOISES OFF Opens Saturday at the North Platte Community Playhouse

noises-offThe first production of the 2013/2014 Season at the North Platte Community Playhouse (NPCP), NOISES OFF, opens Saturday September 28th.

NOISES OFF is the first of four main-stage productions at the Playhouse this season.

Called the funniest farce ever written, NOISES OFF presents a manic menagerie as a cast of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called Nothing’s On. Doors slamming, on and backstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.

The production is Directed by Clayton Hill.  Hill appeared in the NPCP production of MISTER ROBERTS and has years of acting and directing experience in his permanent home, Newport News, VA.

Hill said, “Noises Off is a British “bedroom farce”.  It contains all the elements which are common to almost every farce:  Many doors, through which actors enter and exit and breakneck speed, in the nick of time to not be seen be other actors; stock characters, mistaken identity, partial disrobement, silly plots, lots of physical humor and split second timing handling props.”

Performances are September 28 and 29 with additional performances on October 4, 5 and 6.  The Friday and both Saturday performances begin at 8:00pm with both Sunday performances beginning at 2:00pm.

Tickets are $15.00 for Adults and $8.00 for Students.  Season memberships are also available for $50.00.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.northplattecommunityplayhouse.com, at the Playhouse (301 E. 5th) Monday-Friday 12:00pm-5:00pm, by calling (308) 532-8559 or at the door prior to any performance.

NOISES OFF is made possible, in part, by the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment of the Arts, and is produced through a special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
