Vera did all the alterations herself and many times handmade the flower girl and bridesmaid dresses. She would transport the dresses of the entire wedding party to the venue and was there to make sure everyone looked just right. After selling her business in 1975, Hurshel and Vera moved to Cassville, MO, where they purchased a small acreage and took pride in their large garden and fruit trees. Vera loved to quilt and made many beautiful quilts for all of her family. In 1998, Hurshel and Vera moved back to Sutherland. Vera had a great time as a member of the Sutherland Red Hat Society. Vera was a member of the Sutherland First Presbyterian Church.
