(AP) — More than 7,000 pounds of prescriptions drugs were collected in Nebraska’s annual drug take-back event.
Attorney General Jon Bruning said Thursday that the unwanted, unused and expired prescription drugs were dropped off at designated sites on Oct. 26. The event was part of the Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, in partnership with the Nebraska State Patrol and other agencies.
The medications are collected to help avoid abuse and illegal sales throughout the state. More than 35,000 pounds have been collected at sites in Nebraska since the first national take-back event in May 2011.
