Beulah Marie Phifer, 89, of North Platte, passed away Nov. 3, 2013 at North Platte Care Center. Beulah was born July 7, 1924, on a farm south at Grainton, NE to William J. and Zelma (Plunkett) Hopping. She was the oldest of nine siblings. At the age of 12, she moved with her parents to north of North Platte and later to Maxwell, where she attended school.
On September 11, 1942, she married Clarence A. Phifer, he passed away Nov. 4, 1983. To this union were born three sons, John, Thomas and Kenneth, all of North Platte. They lived west of North Platte in the Platte Valley community for over 45 years. As a family, they enjoyed 4-H clubs, camping and lots of fishing. Beulah was the cook at Platte Valley District #8 grade school for many years.
Beulah was a member of the First Christian Church, UP Club #8, Platte Valley Women’s Club and the Platte Valley & Nicholas Extension Club. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and enjoyed their visits, time spent with them in the park and at her home.
She is survived by her sons, John, Thomas (Mona), Kenneth (Patty) all of North Platte; grandchildren, Angey Phifer of Ft. Collins, CO, Travis (Missy) Phifer of Thornton, CO, Michelle Young of Wichita, KS, Ryan (Michelle) Phifer of Olathe, KS, Joelle (Scott) Richardson of North Platte, and Julie (Joe) Hansen of Manteno, IL; great-grandchildren, Makaela, Kyle, Miriam, Greta, Ayden, Jace, Sydnie, Josie, Jaxson, Allison and Nathan; two sisters, Verna Taylor of North Platte and Deloris Mitchell of Monroe, OR; three sisters-in-laws, Doris Hopping of Albion, NE, Barbara Hopping of North Platte and Doris E. Hopping of Albuquerque, NM; Blain Plunkett of Ogallala; Dorothy Hunt of Greenville, OH; a special friend, Lorna Suzuki of Honolulu, HI; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence; her parents; a sister, Helen Pinkston; brothers, Allen, James, Wayne, Edward and Clifford Hopping; and brothers-in-law, William Taylor, David Mitchell and Ellis Pinkson.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Tim Adams officiating. Burial will be at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
