The No. 16 North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team (1-1) travels to Norfolk this weekend to take part in the Hawks Classic. The Northeast Lady Hawks, Des Moines Area Community College Lady Bears and Iowa Lakes Community College Lady Lakers are the other teams competing in the Classic.
The Lady Knights open up the Hawks Classic on Friday Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. against Des Moines Area Community College. The Lady Bears are 3-0 this season after defeating Briar Cliff University JV 82-53, Northern Oklahoma- Tankawa 95-70 and AIB College of Business 92-41.
North Platte returns to the hardwood the next day at noon as they face Iowa Lakes Community College. The Lady Lakers are 1-2 on the season after losing to Brown Mackie College 71-79 and Highland Community College 39-92 while beating Northwest College 76-66.
The Lady Knights are 1-1 after hosting the Hampton Inn Classic this past weekend. North Platte defeated Midland University JV 74-45 and fell to Fort Carson 58-64. The Lady Knights are led by DaVontaye Merritt at 15.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. April Stull is right behind with 15.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game. Jordan Dickerson is the third leading scorer at 9.5 points per game and leads the Lady Knights with 2.5 assists per game.
The Lady Knights travel to Colby, Kan. to face Colby Community College on Nov. 16 before returning home on Nov. 19 to face Northeast Community College at 5 p.m.
