UNL to Compete in Game Day Challenge on Recycling

UNLLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — On Saturday the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will compete in the Game Day Challenge recycling competition.

It will be UNL’s fourth consecutive year in the competition. The Game Day Challenge aims to divert as much waste as possible during one fall football game.

Dozens of volunteers will be needed outside Memorial Stadium to help round up refuse from tailgaters.

The Game Day Challenge measures success based on waste minimization, diversion rate, greenhouse gas reduction and other factors. Last year UNL ranked second in the Big Ten Conference in both waste minimization and diversion rate.

People interested in volunteering can contact the recycling coordinators at 402-472-9139 or [email protected].
