Huskers Open Four-Game Home Stand with Lions

Nebraska-Huskers-BasketballThe Nebraska women’s basketball team returns home after a successful weekend road trip to take on Arkansas-Pine Bluffon Thursday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Tip-off between the Huskers (3-0) and the Lady Lions (1-3) is set for 7 p.m. (CT), with tickets available now at Huskers.com. Fans can also order game tickets in advance by calling the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office during regular business hours at 1-800-8-BIG-RED.

A live radio broadcast will be provided by the Husker Sports Network, including flagships B107.3 FM in Lincoln and the Wolf 93.3 FM in Omaha. Free live audio is also available at Huskers.com.

Nebraska notched a big road win at 2013 WNIT runner-up Utah, 75-69, on Nov. 15. Sophomore guard Rachel Theriot erupted for career highs of 28 points and seven assists while playing the full 40 minutes in the win. Senior All-America forward Jordan Hooper added her second double-double of the year with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while junior forward Emily Cady contributed 13 points and nine boards.

Theriot, Hooper and Cady are giving the Huskers three experienced scoring options. Theriot leads the Huskers with 16.3 points and 6.0 assists per game, while Hooper adds 16.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per contest. Cady has pitched in 14.7 points and 8.3 boards per contest.
Nebraska, which owns a trio of major conference victories over UCLA and Utah (Pac-12) and Alabama (SEC), is outscoring its opponents by an average of 16.0 points per game and outrebounding the opposition by 13.0 rebounds per contest.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff will be facing its fourth major conference foe in a row. The SWAC member has suffered consecutive losses at Marquette, Iowa and Xavier before heading to Lincoln. Road games will be the norm for UAPB until February, as the Lady Lions won’t play their third home game of the year until Jan. 18, when they face Nebraska’s next opponent, Southern.
