
A 19-year-old man is facing a felony charge after he engaged North Platte Police in a wrestling match.
According to Officer Rodney Brown, officers conducted an investigative stop on on a suspicious vehicle at around 1:40 a.m. on November 28th.
Brown said officers believed the vehicle’s occupants had been involved in breaking into vehicles and attempting to steal personal property and money.
While officers were speaking to the driver, Michael Craig, they noted the smell of alcohol on Craig’s breath and observed an open container of beer in the vehicle.
As Craig stepped out of the vehicle, Brown said he attempted to flee on foot and a struggle, which involved Craig wrestling with officers, ensued.
Eventually, Craig was subdued and placed under arrest.
He was charged with felony 3rd degree assault on an officer, resisting arrest and minor in possession of alcohol.
Brown said Craig also had an active warrant out of Hancock County, Kentucky, which included five misdemeanor charges and 20 felony sexual charges.
Craig is being held at the Lincoln County Detention Center.
