A 19-year-old North Platte man has been charged with rape after police say he engaged in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

According to North Platte Police Department Public Information Officer, Rodney Brown, the NPPD responded to a sexual complaint on July 10th concerning a relationship between Issac Macias and the girl.

Officers learned the two had been prior acquaintances, and their relationship became “closer” from around May to July.

Following a lengthy investigation, police determined there was probable cause to arrest Macias due to the difference in age and alleged inappropriate sexual touching.

Macias was arrested on December 2nd and jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center.

Nebraska law prohibits anyone over the age of 19 from having sexual contact with anyone under the age of 16.
