FREMONT, Neb. (AP) — A 43-year-old Fremont man has been given probation and must apologize for stealing his son’s identity.

Scott Ingalls was sentenced on Monday to a year of probation, 60 hours of community service and to pay a total of $4,900 in restitution.

Ingalls had pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to identity theft. He’d been arrested after opening a credit card account in his son’s name.

Judge Geoffrey Hall of Dodge County District Court told Ingalls he must write a letter of apology to the victim.
