BELLEVUE, Neb. (AP) — Bellevue police are searching for a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend before injuring himself with a chainsaw, then fleeing the hospital where he was being treated.
Police were called Tuesday to a Bellevue home for reports of a woman being assaulted.
When police entered the home, they found the woman upstairs and a bloody 24-year-old Michael Nordmeyer in the basement holding a running chainsaw.
Nordmeyer was taken to an Omaha hospital with significant injuries from the chainsaw. But on Wednesday morning, hospital staff informed police that Nordmeyer had left the hospital against medical advice with the help of the woman he’s accused of assaulting.
Police are now searching for Nordmeyer, who has a warrant out for his arrest on a parole violation.
