GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — A Grand Island man has pleaded no contest to a drunken driving charge in connection with an incident in which a passenger fell out of his door-less Jeep, breaking his neck.
28-year-old Tyler Dalland pleaded no contest on Wednesday to second-offense driving under the influence. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a felony charge of DUI causing serious bodily injury.
Authorities say Dalland was driving the night of Sept. 8 when his passenger, 55-year-old Donald Fillinger, fell out of the passenger side of the vehicle. Fillinger suffered a broken neck and dislocated shoulder.
Dalland is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 30.
