YORK, Neb. (AP) — A 30-year-old Utah man has pleaded not guilty to a Nebraska charge of possessing drug money.
Stephen Scanlon, of Lehi, Utah, had about $85,000 in cash with him when he was arrested on Oct. 19. The vehicle he was traveling in had been stopped by a Nebraska state trooper on westbound Interstate 80 in York County.
Court documents say troopers smelled marijuana and found marijuana residue on two suitcases in the vehicle. The troopers also report finding a purse with the money inside the vehicle.
The felony charge carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
