The Colorado Rockies had never gone winless on a homestand of as long as seven games. Add another ignominious achievement to the disappointing 2011 season. The Rockies lost to the San Diego Padres yesterday afternoon, concluding their final homestand of the year with an 0-7 record and extending their longest losing streak of the season. The Padres scored all four runs in the game in the first inning off of Aaron Cook, making likely his final start at home in a Rockies uniform. Cook lasted five innings and tied a career high with eight strikeouts. Eric Young Jr. and Dexter Fowler had two hits apiece, but the Rockies could only manage six hits total in the shutout loss. The Rockies begin the final week of the season with the first of four games in Houston against the Astros tonight. First pitch is at 7:05.
