Plasido G. John “Pache” Vieyra, age 78 of North Platte passed away Thursday January 2, 2014 at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln,
Plasido was born on October 11, 1935 in Wellington, KS to Apolonio and Mary (Zavala) Vieyra. He grew up in North Platte and after high school worked at McKay Motors and Joe Dye Ford as an auto detailer. On April 23, 1954 he married Cecelia Marie Gonzales in North Platte. He hired on to the UPRR as a fireman/oiler and worked there for 28 years, retiring at age 65. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the NCFOSEIV Chapter 403. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Plasido is survived by his wife Cecelia of North Platte; 3 children Christina (Edward) Rangel of North Platte, Sally (Jose) Martinez of North Platte and Cecelia Jo Vierya (David Williams) of Lincoln; 6 grandchildren, James (Deanna) Sheets of Lincoln, Misty (Christopher) Dillonburg of North Platte, Richard “Ricky” (Andrea) Clark Jr. of North Platte, Michael (Katie Hill) Sheets of North Platte, Angelia (Keegan Farone) Rangel of Aurora, CO and Adrian Madlock of Lincoln; 8 great grandchildren; siblings Richard Vieyra Sr. of North Platte, Julia “Judy” Perez of Colorado Springs, CO, Victoria Vieyra of Galveston, TX; and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial has been established in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday January 6, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Reverend Neal Hock officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday January 7, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Reverend James Golka officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be at North Platte Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be Sunday from noon until 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
