Viola May Dickenson, age 82 of North Platte, passed away Friday January 3, 2014.
Viola was born on July 14, 1931 in North Platte, NE to Milton and Sallie (Gosnell) Jepsen. She graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis. She then continued her studies to become a teacher. She met Norman Dickenson and they were married on June 12, 1951. The couple settled in North Platte where they raised their kids and grandkids. Her main occupation was caring for her beloved husband and family. She said that Norman was her best friend and the love of her life, and her children and grandchildren, her pride and joy. She enjoyed working at North Platte High School as a study hall monitor and volunteer. She was a long time member of the Lutheran Church and served in many areas. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crafts, hunting, fishing and camping.
Viola is survived by her 3 daughters, Debra (Randy) Perry of North Platte, Sarah Heinzen of Lincoln, and Cindy (Larry) Bloomfield of Lisco; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sister Beverly Kelley of North Platte; numerous nieces, nephews, and special people in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norman; brother, Martin Jepsen; and sister, Laura Leaf.
Memorials may be made in her name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday January 7, 2014 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home with Reverend Frank Fitch III officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
