Saturday, January 11

Papillion La Vista South 41 North Platte 40
The Dawgs jumped out to an eight-point first quarter lead but couldn’t hold it in a home loss to the Titans.
No. 3 St. Patrick’s 51 Cozad 41
The Irish had a 12-point lead at the end of the first quarter and never relinquished it against the Haymakers.

No. 10 Overton 78 Maxwell 37
Brady 62 Arthur County 32
Nate Sitorius led the Eagles with 23 points and Troy Lusk and Chase Viter each scored 10 points in the win for Brady.
Mullen 73 No. 10 Wallace 62
Gothenburg 52 Centura 42
Tanner Borchardt scored 25 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead the Swedes to the win Saturday. Blake Ristine joined him in double-figures with 12 points.
Girls Basketball
North Platte 58 Papillion La Vista South 42
Kaitlynn Harvey scored 18 points to lead North Platte in the victory and Jessy Hunt rebounded from a broken nose Friday night to score 12 for the Lady Dawgs. Allison Sawyer also scored in double-figures for North Platte with 13.
No. 3 St. Patrick’s 61 Cozad 25
Toni Caudillo led the Lady Irish with 17 points, Bree Saner added 16 and Brittany Lawrence was also in double-figures with 14 in the St. Pat’s win.
No. 3 Hershey 52 Bridgeport 19
The Lady Panthers held Bridgeport scoreless in the first quarter and the defense didn’t allow too much after that in the win.
Overton 56 Maxwell 44
The Lady Wildcats led for four points at halftime but only scored 15 second-half points in the loss.
Sutherland 56 Perkins County 28
Morgan Simpson and Kaley Stokey each scored 16 points for the Lady Sailors in the win. Stokey also had seven steals for Sutherland.
Brady 50 Arthur County 30
Sidney Widick led the Lady Eagles with 10 points and four steals as Brady improved to 10-1 with the win.
Wallace 63 Mullen 56
Centura 46 Gothenburg 38
Regan Geiken scored 11 points for the Lady Swedes in the loss.
Friday, January 10
Boys Basketball
North Platte 47 Kearney 37
With “Let’s play football,” chants coming from the Kearney student section North Platte pulled away in the fourth quarter to get the win. Drew Callaghan led the way for the Dawgs with a game-high 19 points. Shane Mauch also finished in double-figures with 10 points.
No. 3 St. Patrick’s 67 Perkins County 30
The Irish improved to 9-0 with the win.

The Swedes got a balanced scoring effort with nine players scoring in the game. Tanner Borchardt led the way with 10 points and 15 rebounds. Tyler Fear led the Sailors in the loss with a game-high 17 points.

Kearney 51 North Platte 27
A 30-5 run by Kearney in the second half doomed the Lady Dawgs. Kelsey Stithem led all scorers for the Lady Bearcats with 17 points. Jessy Hunt and Kaitlynn Harvey each scored seven to lead North Platte. The Dawgs had 28 turnovers in the loss.

The Lady Irish didn’t score in the fourth quarter but come away with a dominant win.
No. 3 Hershey 48 McCook 39
Trailing by three at halftime the Lady Panthers dominated the second half against the Lady Bison to get the win.
Gothenburg 41 Sutherland 38
The Lady Swedes earned the home victory behind Regan Geiken’s 14 points and Emily Franzen’s 11 points. The Lady Sailors finished with three players in double-figures. Sam Staggs scored 13, Kaley Stokey finished with 12 and Jalyne Schuster scored 10.
Tuesday, January 7
Boys Basketball
Sutherland 49 Sandhills/Thedford 48
Sutherland outscored Sandhills/Thedford 15-10 in the fourth quarter for a one-point 49-48 win. Tyler Fear had 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the Sailors.
No. 10 Wallace 55 Medicine Valley 49
10th-ranked Wallace remained undefeated with a 55-49 win over Medicine Valley. Landon Swedberg had 21 points and Colin Swedberg scored 20 for the Wildcats.
McCook 42 Gothenburg 35
Tanner Borchardt scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down 19 rebounds for the Swedes in the loss.
