(AP) — A 19-year-old Lincoln man has been sentenced to prison for accidentally shooting a girl in the back, paralyzing her.

Sabri Ibrahim was sentenced on Thursday to six to 10 years in prison. Ibrahim had pleaded no contest and was convicted of felony assault.

Authorities say Ibrahim was trying to buy a gun from a man on June 19 and was in the back seat of a car looking at the gun when it went off. The bullet struck Treneyce Thompson. She’s 18 now and must use a wheelchair.
