(AP) — A Nebraska man has been convicted of molesting a 6-year-old girl in Rhode Island in 2001 when his mother was the girl’s baby sitter.

The Rhode Island attorney general’s office says Joseph Ogoffa was found guilty by a jury on Thursday of five counts of child molestation.

The jury reached a verdict in an hour after a four-day trial in Providence County Superior Court.

Prosecutors say Ogoffa, now 36, was 24 years old at the time he molested the girl in September and October 2001. She told police what happened in November 2007.

Ogoffa is being held at the state prison pending sentencing. He most recently lived in Lincoln, Neb.
