No. 5 NPCC Knights Continue On the Road for Three More Games This Week

npcc-knightsNorth Platte – The No. 5 North Platte Community College men’s basketball team (14-0, 6-0 South Sub-Region) stays on the road for three more games this week. The Knights first travel to Cheyenne, Wyo. to take on the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles (13-6, 4-2 South Sub-Region) on Wednesday January 15 at 8 p.m. CST before travelling to Beatrice to take on the Southeast Community College Storm (15-5) Friday January 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Columbus to take on the Central Community College Raiders (14-2) Saturday January 18 at 3 p.m.

The Knights continue to be led by sophomore Ethan Montalvo with 15.8 points per game, 2.6 assists per game and 2.4 steals per game. Freshmen Cameron Williams (11.9 ppg) and Marco Pascolo (10.4 ppg) also score in double-figures for the Knights. After scoring 17 points in his last outing, sophomore Tim Simmons is the fourth Knight averaging double-figures at 10.1 points per game.

Laramie County defeated Trinidad State on the road 93-84 in their last outing. The Golden Eagles are led by the high scoring duo of Deon Edwin and Deshon Portley who score 22.7 and 22.4 points respectively. Darien Fernandez is the third Golden Eagle in double-figures at 10.8 points per game.

Southeast has won both their games since returning to campus after Christmas break. The Storm knocked off Kansas City Kansas Community College on the road 60-52 and Johnson County Community College at home 67-65. Southeast plays tomorrow at Highland Community College before taking on the Knights on Friday. Southeast is led by Josh Roberts at 15.4 points per game and Tyrell Corlew at 14.4 points per game.

Central currently owns a three game winning streak and has not played since December 7 until tomorrow when they face Indian Hills Community College on the road before facing the Knights on Saturday. The Raiders place five players in double-figures led by Tyron Crisswell at 18.5 points per game. Tra-Deon Hollins (16.4 ppg), Calvin Thomas (12.7 ppg), Riak Bol (11.7 ppg) and David Plain (11.4 ppg) are the other players in double-figures for the Raiders.

North Platte finishes their seven game road trip next week as they travel to Trinidad State Junior College (8-9, 1-4 South Sub-Region) and Otero Junior College (13-5, 3-3 South Sub-Region). The Knights are next at home on Wednesday January 29 to face McCook Community College (11-4, 3-1 South Sub-Region) at 7:30 p.m.
