(AP) — A 27-year-old man has been given 20 to 60 months in prison for choking a woman at the Hastings apartment they’d been sharing.

Tyler Millard was sentenced on Tuesday by Judge Stephen Illingworth in Adams County District Court. Millard had pleaded no contest to a charge of strangulation after prosecutors dropped two other charges.

The woman told police that she wanted to break up with Millard. She was moving his belongings out of the apartment on Sept. 13, 2012, when she and Millard got into an argument that turned physical. She says he choked her into unconsciousness.
