(AP) — An outlet bakery in the southwestern Nebraska town of McCook known to many locals as simply “the bread store” is closing its doors after nearly a half-century in business.
The Old Home Bakery Outlet, owned by Bimbo Bakeries USA, will close Feb. 1 after nearly 50 years in business. Employees at the location said they were saddened by the news but could not comment.
David Margulies, a representative from the public relations firm contracted by Bimbo Bakeries, said “they open and close these stores all the time.”
A statement provided by Margulies said the decision was made to close some of Bimbo’s retail stores “in order to focus more sharply on our core competencies.”
