An Ogallala man is facing a felony theft charge after he allegedly rented merchandise from Rent a Center in North Platte and failed to return it.

Public Information Officer, Rodney Brown, said an officer responded to the report of a theft at the business on November 27.

An employee alleged that 25-year-old Joseph Karr had rented a Whirlpool Washer and Dryer set, valued at around $1,700, then failed to return it.

Following further investigation, officers determined there was probable cause to charge Karr with felony theft.

On February 11, officers were advised that Karr was in North Platte and traveling in a black Dodge Durango.

The vehicle and Karr were eventually located, and he was placed under arrest and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center.

Karr has been charged with failure to return rental property, a Class III felony.
