‘Monster Snake’ Replica to Be on Display in Lincoln

titanoba(AP) — A replica of the world’s largest snake will go on exhibit later this month at the University of Nebraska State Museum in Morrill Hall.

The 48-foot-long replica is of the Titanboa cerrejonensis, which scientists say weighed up to an estimated 2,500 pounds. The Titanboas lived 60 million years ago.

The museum exhibit will include fossils and bones of Titanoboa and modern reptiles, exhibits on past environments and clips from the Smithsonian Channel documentary, “Titanoboa: Monster Snake.”

The exhibit opens Feb. 22 and runs through Sept. 7.
