Jack W. DeCent Jr., age 63 of Hershey passed away February 20, 2014 at his home. He was born August 1, 1950 in Gary, Indiana to Jack W and Emily Louie DeCent Sr. Jack grew up in Gary, Indiana and moved to North Platte with his family. He entered the United States Army, serving a tour in Vietnam and a short time in Germany. After his discharge he returned to North Platte and worked as a painter for Clarence Watkins. He later worked for the John A. Gentleman Power Plant and then hired on the Union Pacific Railroad as a machinist, retiring due to health reasons. He was united in marriage to Vickie Cochran on March 3, 1974 in North Platte, to this union 4 children were born, Crystal, Jack III, Joe and Jason.
Jack was a member of the American Legion and a past member of Our Lady of Guadelupe Catholic Church in Hershey. He loved riding his motorcycle, racing, camping, fishing and hunting with family, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Vickie of Hershey; children, Stephanie Bass, Crystal (Cole Schomp) DeCent of Hershey, Jack III (Tracy Moon) DeCent, Joe DeCent , and Jason (Hannah) DeCent all of North Platte; siblings, Lloyd DeCent of North Platte, Vivian (Kevin) Pietre, Joyce (Perry) Thompson all of Sutherland, David DeCent of Omaha, Brenda Hansen of Sutherland, and Danny DeCent; other family members, Robert (Peggy) DeCent of Sutherland, Barb (Brook) Hoover of Cheyenne, WY, and Richard DeCent of Hershey; grandchildren, Victoria, Jewel, Dakota, Matthew, Brandon, Bruce, Breanna, and Kayden; special friends, Danny and Bert Mills of North Platte; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and other family members, James, Michael. and Mark.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Harvest Christian Fellowship with the Reverend Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements
