(AP) — A 24-year-old southeast Nebraska man has been accused of slashing his mother in the head with a knife.

Authorities say Dakota Beadle was arrested on Saturday. The charges against him include assault and possession of amphetamine. Otoe County Jail records said Beadle remained in custody on Tuesday. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.

Chief Deputy Sheriff Mike Holland says Beadle’s mother showed up at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City on Saturday with a roughly 10-inch-long cut from one ear across the top of her head to the other ear. She told investigators that she and her son had argued at his home northwest of Nebraska City.
