Their prime-time Big Ten debut did not go according to plan, and the Nebraska football team has suffered in the polls because of it. The Huskers dropped six spots to 14th in the AP poll, and seven spots to 15th in the USA Today Coaches Poll, after Saturday night’s 48-17 loss at Wisconsin. The Huskers allowed 34 straight points in a defeat for which head coach Bo Pelini apologized to the entire state of Nebraska after the game, calling the performance ‘a joke’. The loss was the worst for the Huskers, both in terms of margin of victory and points allowed, since Oklahoma thrashed them 62-28 back in 2008. On the flip side, Wisconsin earned a jump to 4th in the AP poll and 5th in the USA Today Coaches Poll after the victory. Nebraska will try to rebound as they host Ohio State this Saturday night at Memorial Stadium.
