(AP) — Hastings police say a 17-year-old who escaped from custody has turned himself in to authorities.
The boy returned to authorities around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police say he escaped around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday as deputies were taking him from a squad car to the Adams County Courthouse. Court records say he had a court appearance for allegedly violating the terms of his probation.
Court records say the teen pleaded no contest in July to a second-degree assault charge. A judge sentenced him to two years of intense supervised probation.
The Associated Press generally doesn’t name juveniles accused of crimes.
