The Kearney Police Department is investigating the death of a Kearney woman after she was struck and killed by a train.
According to a news release for the City of Kearney, officers were called to the 2900 block of West Railroad street at around 6:18 p.m., on Sunday.
It was reported, by Union Pacific Railroad employees, that a pedestrian had been struck by a train near that location.
Upon arrival, police found a female victim who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is being investigated by the Kearney Police Department Fatality Accident Investigation Team with assistance from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office.
No further details have been released.
