A North Platte man and woman were arrested early Wednesday morning for stealing cigarettes from vehicles.
According to a report from the North Platte Police Department officers responded to a call at the South Platte Terrace Apartments at 700 E. Phillip at around 1:15 am Wednesday, May 21 on the report of male and female subjects entering parked vehicles in the parking lot. Officers were unsuccessful in locating the two at that location but were able to track them to a front yard in the 900 block of E. Francis.
The suspects, Austin Bordeaux and Sabrena Flores, both 20, fled on foot and into a field west of that location, according to the report. Bordeaux was found lying in tall grass and Flores was apprehended moments later running in the nearby parking lot of the North Platte Dialysis Center at 785 E. Francis. The investigation revealed that Bordeaux and Flores were stealing cigarettes from vehicles. Both were arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center. Bordeaux was jailed for possession of burglary tools, a class IV felony, resisting arrest and theft by unlawful taking along with being cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Flores was jailed for resisting arrest and theft by unlawful taking.
