Authorities: 3 Lincoln Women Conned out of $8,400

MAG_SCAMLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities are warning Lincoln residents to be cautious of salespeople who approach their homes following three instances of women being conned out of thousands of dollars.

Three women were conned out of a total of $8,400 by a man posing as a magazine salesman between April 30 and May 19.

Officer Katie Flood says the women, ages 46 to 84, bought subscriptions and wrote checks for $22, $24 and $46. The checks were later cashed for about $2,800 each.

Flood says the man told the women he was from Omaha and wanted to turn his life around. She says the man told one woman her subscription money would go to a Boys & Girls Club facility.

Flood says investigators haven’t yet arrested any suspects.
