Duveen M. Haist, 80, of North Platte, NE, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Linden Court in North Platte.

Duveen was born March 1, 1934, to John Otto and Agnes Kathinka Christensen Nelsen at Ortonville, MN. At the age of three, the family moved to Oak Harbor, WA where she grew up. Duveen graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1952.

In February 1955, Duveen married William Mitchell Haist at Oak Harbor and they had two children, Treve and Tracy. They made their home in Seattle, WA where she attended Shoreline Community College and received an Associates Degree in accounting. Following her divorce, Duveen moved back to Oak Harbor with Tracy and worked in banking. In 1989 Duveen moved to North Platte to be closer to her daughter.

Duveen was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she was actively involved and was the bookkeeper for 16 years. She also liked to crochet and cross stitch.

Survivors include her daughter, Tracy Miller, and three granddaughters, Shaylyn, Daynlee & Treyann Miller, all of Hershey, NE; son, Treve Haist, and three grandsons, Tyler, Terin and Taner (Jacqui) Haist, all of Edmonds, WA; a sister, Deatrice; and other family.

Duveen was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Nelsen; and her son-in-law, Greg Miller.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at the Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Eighmy officiating. The memorial book may be signed from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore or at odeanchapel.com. Memorials can be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church or the Greg Miller Scholarship Fund. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
