A 24-year-old North Platte man is in jail after he allegedly roughed up his girlfriend in front of a child.
According to Investigator John Deal, officers responded to the Dairy Queen parking lot at around 12:25 a.m., on Tuesday, to meet with a female who had been assaulted.
Officers met with the female and determined that she had been at her residence in the 100 block of Reid when she got into an argument with her boyfriend, Miles Tegeler.
Tegeler and the victim were reportedly arguing over his consumption of alcohol around the couple’s child.
The victim alleged that Tegeler had forced her into a bedroom, where he slapped her and scratched her back.
Deal said the female was eventually able to escape from the bedroom, however, when she attempted to leave the home with the child, Tegeler locked the doors, punched her in the ribs and attempted to take the child.
The victim was able to put the child in a crib before Tegeler grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head into a cabinet.
When the victim was able to get out of the house, Tegeler allegedly chased her down the block. Deal said she was able to get away and flagged down a motorist to call police.
Deal said the female had minor injuries that corroborated her account of what took place.
Officers then responded to the residence and placed Tegeler under arrest.
According to Deal, the child was safe in the house, but did sustain minor scratches to the face.
Tegeler was jailed and charged with false imprisonment, domestic assault and cruelty toward a child.
