The North Platte First Nationals won their sixth and seventh straight games Tuesday night by sweeping Scottsbluff in a doubleheader at Bill Wood Field.
North Platte (17-10) won the first game 12-4 over Scottsbluff despite getting outhit 13-10. Jayden Kruse pitched the complete game for North Platte and earned the win after giving up four runs on 13 hits while striking out eight batters and walking five. Kruse allowed 13 hits but was able to pitch out of jams throughout the game and cause Scottsbluff to leave runners stranded.
The First Nationals took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning then added four more in the second to go up 5-1. Scottsbluff could never work their way back into it after that and North Platte added two runs in the fourth inning and five runs in the sixth to secure the win. Darian Allberry led the way at the plate by going 2-4 with two doubles and two runs batted in. Jack Kenny added a double in the game to go along with two RBI and Alex Harms led all players with three runs batted in.
The second game of the night at Bill Wood Field almost appeared to be a breeze as North Platte took an early lead and cruised to a 10-1 win. Dalton Pflughaupt pitched a gem for the First Nationals by throwing a complete game two-hitter and giving up just one unearned run. He also struck out three batters and only walked one.
North Platte led 2-0 after the first inning, added three more runs in the fifth then blew the doors off with four runs in the fourth inning before scoring the final run in the sixth inning to earn the win.
