In the heat of the night, the IMCA racing action was simmering hot at Lincoln County Raceway in North Platte, Nebraska on Saturday evening. Picking up a pair of feature victories in the Stock Car division was Casey Werkmeister as he was joined in the winners circle by Zach Schultz, Kyle Bond and Charlie Blowers.

On top of his game, Casey Werkmeister of Maywood (NE) swept the top honors in the IMCA Stock Car features, as two were ran on this evening. Werkmeister garnered the lead in the initial feature near the halfway point and never looked back. In the night’s finale, Werkmeister droved to the lead on lap 10 from his fifth row starting position to claim the checkered flag. Kyle Werkmeister of Maywood and Casey Woken of Ogallala took home runner-up accolades in the twin features for the Stock Cars. Earning podium finishes in third place were Kyle Clough of Wallace and Gothenburg’s Jeff Whiting. Heat races were triumphed by Mikey Dancer of North Platte and David Easterday of Riverdale.

Blitzing the field to lead from the drop of the green flag until the double checkered flags were waved was North Platte’s Zach Schultz to win the IMCA Northern Sport Modified Feature. Schultz started on the pole and darted to the lead and never looked back. Driving from his third row starting position to finish second overall was Dalten Collins of North Platte. Collins displayed great consistency over the final laps to earn the podium finish. Coming from deep in the field, Henry Henderson of Sutherland had his work cut out for him, but he was up to the task to earn the third place accolades. Henderson started in the fifth row of the feature lineup at the drop of the green flag. Topping the heat race action in the Northern Sport Modified division were Terry Dressel of North Platte and Curtis hotshoe Bryan Herrick.

Finding the right groove on the high side in the late laps powered Gibbon Gambler Kyle Bond to the winners circle in the IMCA Hobby Stock division. Bond snared the lead on the sixth lap and drove his way to yet another Feature victory. The early leader in the feature was Tyson Canas of Cozad who relinquished the lead to Bond on the sixth circuit. Canas stayed up on the wheel and earned a runner-up finish. Doing his best to make a strong push during the second half of the season, Brady Weinman of Arnold finished third overall in the featured event. Heat race winner, Benkelman Bullet Austin Davis recovered quite nicely to finish fourth after being caught in the Jacob Olmstead rollover near the halfway point of the feature. Olmstead also held point throughout a heat race as well.

Leading the final two laps, Charlie Blowers of Arnold piloted the Mopar Magic hotrod to an IMCA Sport Compact Feature victory. Blowers started in the second row and was able to avoid incidents throughout the feature to make the move for the lead on the eighth lap. Veteran wheelman Andrew Baumgardner of North Platte did his best to show great consistency and his efforts were rewarded with a runner-up finish. Cozad hotshoe Devin Bjorklund finished the podium slots in the division in his Dodge Neon. Heat race action was won by Baumgardner.
