Assault Leads to Child Abuse Charge for NP Man

A North Platte man is in jail after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in front of a child.

At around 1:47 a.m., on August 3, North Platte Police responded to a disturbance in the 3400 block of West 16th Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman, who appeared to have been assaulted, lying in the street injured.

Officers learned that the woman’s boyfriend, Jonas Luea, had assaulted her following an argument.

According to police, Luea’s daughter was present during the altercation.

As a result, Luea was arrested and charged with 3rd degree domestic assault and child abuse.

Luea was transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center and jailed.

The woman was transported to Great Plains Health for treatment.
