Betty Jane Herron, age 88 formerly of North Platte, left this life to be with her beloved husband Eugene on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at the Sutherland Care Center.
Betty was born on August 31, 1925 in Gothenburg, NE to Harry O. and Zelpha P. (Corder) Woodward. She attended school in Gothenburg until moving to North Platte at the age of 13. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1945 and then married Eugene F. Herron on August 23 1945 in Atwood, KS The couple made their home in North Platte where she was a member of the Parkview Church of the Nazarene, the UP Oldtimer’s Club and Platte Valley Coin Club. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her mornings with all the grandkids helping her make pancakes. Betty and Gene spent a lot of time taking their kids and then their grandkids camping, fishing and fossil hunting.
Betty is survived by 3 daughters, Debra (Mike) Wagner of Longmont, CO, Pamela Hill (Joe Twidwell) of North Platte, and Linda (Charles) Eacker of North Platte; 11 grandchildren, Alicia (Dan) Terrill, Amanda (Ken) Allen, Angela (Aaron Rademacher) Wagner, Audra (Ryan) Clark all of Colorado, Dan (Kim) Hill and Jason (Erin) Hill of Kearney, NE, Nicholas (Star Lane) Thalken of North Platte, April Thalken and Adam Thalken of Lincoln, Ne, Sara (Taylor) Weatherly of North Platte, and Haley Eacker of New Mexico; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law Aris Woodward of Arvada, CO and Patricia Ames of Washington; and several nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene; grandson Kevin Thalken; brothers Mervin, Harold, Robert, Dale, Walter, Milton, Richard and Don Woodward; sisters Verna and Marcella Woodward and Norma Morrison.
Memorials are suggested in her name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene with Reverend Jack Attebery officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with family receiving friends from 4:00 until 6:00 on Sunday, at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
