OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A 36-year-old Omaha man who spent less than three years in prison for participating in the gang-rape of teenager in 2000 has been given 42 to 110 years in prison for sexually assaulting two young girls within months of leaving prison in 2004.

Online court records say Kelvin Smith sentenced on Tuesday in Sarpy County District Court. He’d been convicted in June by a Sarpy County jury of 11 sex-related crimes against the girls, including first-degree sexual assault of a child and third-degree sexual assault of a child. Prosecutors say the girls were 9 and 10 years old when Smith began abusing them in 2004.

Smith was charged with sexual assault and false imprisonment in a 2000 attack on a 19-year-old woman. Smith pleaded no contest to attempted sexual assault.
