Robert L. Thomsen

Robert-ThomsenRobert L. Thomsen, 78, of North Platte passed away August 12, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Bob was born on February 23, 1936 on East 10th Street in North Platte. He was the 4th of 7 children born to Arnold and Ruby (Liljigren) Thomsen. He grew up in North Platte and moved with his family to the farm south of North Platte. After graduating from North Platte High School in 1954, he joined the Navy. He met and married his wife Marion (Davis) in Cranston, RI in 1957. He farmed and had a dairy from 1958-1997 and retired at that time, moving back to North Platte.

Bob will always be remembered for all the good humor and whoopies he left behind. He loved traveling in the motor home and playing horseshoes all over the country. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Marion of North Platte; children, Michael (Justine) Thomsen of North Platte, Randall (Michelle) Thomsen of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert “Gary” Thomsen of North Platte, Steven (Drae) Thomsen of Nampa, ID, and Barbara (Steve) Vance of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Jean Bonnin of Andover, MN; sister-in-law, Julaine Thomsen of North Platte; and brothers-in-law, Jay Van Winkle of Tucson, AZ and Leonard Logg of WA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marty and Charles; and sisters, Mary Fields, Rosie Van Winkle, and Janice Logg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 at St. Partick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend James Golka as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell with full military honors graveside. Visitation will be noon until 6:00 Saturday and Sunday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
