Lucy Mae Alegria, 77, of North Platte, NE, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

Lucy was born June 3, 1937, to Glenford C. and Margaret Murphy Haitz in Syracuse, NY. She was raised by the nuns in a Catholic orphanage in Naples, NY and attended school at Naples Central. Lucy worked for Dudley Poultry and tied grapes for the Widmer Wine Company before marrying Ralph Frasca. To this union three children were born.

Lucy later left New York and traveled throughout the Western states. She met Arthur ‘Art’ Alegria in North Platte and they were married on January 17, 1989. They lived in North Platte and lovingly shared 23 blessed years together before Art passed away in 2012.

Lucy was an avid reader and artist. When Lucy was younger she played the accordian. In later years she was an avid reader and artist.
Lucy also liked to go fishing and watch the trains and loved animals especially cats and horses.

Survivors include her children, Jean Hosler, of Newark, NY and Cheryl (David) Bloom, of Canandaiqua, NY and Dale (Robyn) Frasca, of Bloomfield, NY; her stepchildren, Eva (Paul) Monzon, of Lincoln, NE, Gloria (Michael) Brannon, of Winchester, VA, Ramona Delgado (Loren Biltoft), of Hoxie, KS, Elizabeth Parkin, of Salt Lake City, UT, Sunday (Phyllis) Alegria, of Culbertson, NE, Michael (Teresa) Alegria, of Northglenn, CO and Sammy Alegria (Becky Negley), of Sioux Falls, SD; stepdaughter-in-law, Claudine Alegria, of Glendale, CA; two sisters, Joan (Joseph) Pullano, of Syracuse, NY and Theresa (Stanley) Przytula, of Cicero, NY; six grandchildren, Christopher and Terry Hosler, Carolyn Schurr and Mary, Jamie and Kristen Moran; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Schurr and Kinley Moran; 17 step grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other family.

Along with her husband, Art, Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Glenford and Margaret Haitz; a brother, Frances; two sisters, Glenna Clark and Ethel Pople; and her stepchildren, Mary Ann Alegria and Arthur James ‘Jimmy’ Alegria.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore with Father Jim Golka officiating. Cremation will follow. Visitation will be Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Memorials for Lucy can be made to the Good Fellows Shoe Fund.
