Former Husker Enunwa Charged after Hotel Fight

Quincy Enunwa New York JetsFLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — A member of the New York Jets practice squad was arrested this week after being accused of fighting with another man at a New Jersey hotel near the team’s practice facility.

Florham Park police said Wednesday that Quincy Enunwa was charged Sunday with simple assault and later released on his own recognizance. He was due to make a court appearance Wednesday but it wasn’t clear if the hearing was held as scheduled.

The 22-year-old rookie wide receiver declined comment when questioned Wednesday at practice, saying it was a “pending legal matter.” The Jets picked Enunwa in the 6th round of this year’s draft. Enunwa had 12 touchdowns for Nebraska last season and was the Gator Bowl MVP.

Authorities didn’t say what sparked the alleged altercation or who else was involved.
