LEXINGTON, Neb. (AP) — A new $4.8 million YMCA is set to open soon in Lexington.
The new facility will open Oct. 20.
Construction began two years ago, and the project is connected to the renovation of Lexington Middle School.
The current YMCA facility will close Oct. 15 so that equipment can be moved and staff can prepare to open in the new location.
The new facility features a large gymnasium shared with the school, an indoor track, a 5,000-square-foot wellness center and a spacious group exercise room. It also includes locker rooms, a child-care room and a social lobby with a fireplace and free Wi-Fi access.
It’s named the Orthman Community YMCA in recognition of a $2 million gift from Orthman Manufacturing in Lexington.
