OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man who died while in their custody.

Officer Kevin Wiese says Michael Harris died Monday at Immanuel Hospital but the cause is unclear.

Employees at an Omaha liquor store say they fought with Harris on Sept. 19 because he looked like he was going to fight another customer. They called police and said he bit one of the employees.

Wiese described Harris as uncooperative and erratic. He says Harris injured himself and damaged the interior of the police car on the way to the hospital but didn’t say how he was hurt.

Autopsy results are pending.
