The 2011 state volleyball tournaments get underway today in the Tri Cities, and three Lincoln County schools are fighting to bring back a state championship. In Class C2, the St. Patrick’s Irish return to state for the second time in three years. They are the seventh seed and will take on Hastings St. Cecilia at Hastings High School. In Class D1, the Sutherland Sailors are back at state for a second straight year. They are the fifth seed, and will face BDS at Grand Island Northwest High School. In Class D2, Brady makes their first state appearance since 1997 as the fifth seed. They will face Wynot at Grand Island Central Catholic High School.
