Dempster Industries Back in Business in Beatrice

dempsterBEATRICE, Neb. (AP) — A longtime manufacturing company in Beatrice is back in business after shuttering its operations three years ago.

The Dempster Industries factory closed in late 2011, but is now under new management. Dempster president Ryan Mitchell said the factory has completed its first full line of spreaders.

The production line took between 12 and 14 weeks to make the spreaders, which can be painted any color a customer wants. The equipment costs about $15,000 each.

Painting and other production is outsourced to Beatrice-area business. Ten people are currently employed at Dempsters, and Mitchell says seven are former employees.
