FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Authorities say a sixteenth person was arrested during an overnight protest near the Ferguson police station.
St. Louis County Police spokesman Shawn McGuire says only one of those arrested is from the St. Louis area and that eight are from New York City.
McGuire says 15 people were arrested on misdemeanor peace disturbance charges. He says Joygill Moriah, of the Bronx in New York City, was arrested on preliminary charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and disturbing the peace.
Jail records had no attorney listed for Moriah.
The demonstrators were protesting the grand jury’s decision Monday not to charge a white Ferguson police officer for shooting unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown in August.
