LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A 22-year-old man has pleaded no contest to charges in connection to a fatal shooting in Lincoln.
Kashius Haynes, of Jonestown, Mississippi, entered the plea Monday to charges of manslaughter and use of a firearm to commit a felony. A plea deal amended a second-degree murder charge.
Haynes was accused of shooting Nathaniel Morton in March, after witnesses say there was a sudden quarrel between the men. Morton was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Authorities say Haynes killed Morton in a fight over a $20 dice bet. He faces six to 70 years in prison when he is sentenced in March.
