Richard William ‘Dick’ Ryun, 70, died at his home in Wallace, NE, on Saturday, December 13, 2014.

Dick was born May 11, 1944, to Sylvester William and Netta Mae Fielder Ryun at Callaway, NE. The family moved to Omaha, NE when Dick was young then he moved back to Callaway to live with his grandparents, Asa and Henrietta Ryun, when he was a teenager. Dick graduated from Callaway High School in 1962. He later lived with Hazel and Bob Wolf and helped out on their ranch near Ringgold, NE.

Dick met Irene Ann Rundback and they were married in April 1965 in North Platte where they made their home. To this union Jeff and Jodi were born. Dick started working for Cement Products before driving for other businesses. He later owned his own trucks. In 1971 Dick went to work for Consolidated Freightways then moved with the company to Cheyenne, WY in 1980.

On July 7, 1983, Dick married Sharon Marie Harvey in Cheyenne where they lived until his retirement in 1991. Following his retirement, they moved back to Nebraska, living in Dickens then Wallace where Dick started Ryun Transporters.

While in Cheyenne, Dick was a member of the Moose Lodge and Teamsters Union and enjoyed working on vehicles. In Wallace he attended the Wallace Community Church. Dick did lots of fishing and pontooning and loved to help people.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sharon, of Wallace; his mother, Netta Ryun, of Arizona; a son, Jeff Ryun, of North Platte; daughters, Jodi (Jerry) Powers, of Hampton, NE, Christy (Clint) Sheets, of Wallace and Kristina Jackson, of Nuevo, CA; 11 grandchildren, Ashghlee, Meghan, Kimberly, James, Michell, Mickayla, Ryun, Colton, Jacob, Jerry and Justin; 10 great-grandchildren, Elli Rae, Korbyn, Jacob, Daphne, Dylan, Jadyn, Madison, Isabelle, Olivia and Dustin; stepbrothers, Rocky (Edna) Ryun and Ricky (Shawna) Ryun, all of Omaha, NE; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Ryun, of Greeley, CO and Ursela Chrisler, of Arizona; and many nieces, nephews and other family.

Dick was preceded in death by his father, Sylvester, and stepmother, Zada Marie Ryun Lucas; grandparents, Asa and Henrietta Ryun; and two brothers, Randy Chrisler and Ronald Ryun.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, at the Wallace Community Hall with Pastor Bob Witt officiating. Burial will follow in Morning View Cemetery south of Wallace. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore and prior to the service. Condolences may also be shared at odeanchapel.com. Memorials are suggested to the Wallace Community Church. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
