Coal Cars Derail in Western Dodge County

Union-PacificFREMONT, Neb. (AP) — Union Pacific workers have been cleaning up the scene of a coal car derailment in western Dodge County.

The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. Friday just south of U.S. Highway 30, west of North Bend. Railroad spokesman Mark Davis said the train consisted of three locomotives and 136 cars. Just 22 of them derailed.

Rail traffic on the line was halted for cleanup and any repairs necessary.
